• 7 days of film screenings citywide

• Film Congress: panels and workshops FREE and open to the public (October 8 & 9). 2005 topics:
  • Film Distribution
  • Animation in Film
  • Financing for Film (in Louisiana)
  • Documentary Filmmaking
  • Music for Indie Films

• Festival Kick-off Gala, Thursday, October 6 (theme: James Bond/007)

  A spectacular evening that promises to rival anything Hollywood can dish out. A fitting cork popper to the New Orleans Film Festival. This event is our major fund-raiser, and generates operating support for the festival, and for our nonprofit 501 c-3 cultural organization serving artists and audiences locally, regionally, and beyond.

• Industry After Hours, 11pm -1am nightly (October 7 - 13)

  Over 10,000 people attend the festival -- many are up-and-coming independent filmmakers, and many are Film Industry execs from L.A. and N.Y.C. here scouting for new talent. They sit in movies all day and night, leaving little opportunity for networking and socializing.  NOFF takes over some top nightspots for after hours gatherings featuring live local music.

• BEST OF FEST Showcase & Awards Night Party

  Sunday, October 9, 2005, Prytania Theatre

  NOFF received over 800 entries to our competitive division. Juries met all summer and selected the 95 films to screen this fall.  We award prizes for: Best Narrative Short, Best Narrative Feature, Best Experimental Film, Best Animated Film, Best Documentary, Best Louisiana Film and Grand Jury Prize.
