ALLSTATE SUGAR BOWL 2008 - A Celebration of SUGAR BOWL MEMORIES

Classic! A Celebration of Sugar Bowl Memories is free and open to the public Tuesday–Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It will be on display at the Royal Street Complex located at 533 Royal St. in the French Quarter from Nov. 29, 2007 through Jan. 13, 2008. Gear up for the bowl season in New Orleans with The Historic New Orleans Collection and Classic! A Celebration of Sugar Bowl Memories. Th is exhibition captures more than seven decades of the Sugar Bowl experience, from the inaugural game in 1935 to the 2008 Allstate National Championship Game.

During the summer of 2007, the Sugar Bowl donated its materials to The Collection, which houses more than 300 years of history. The Historic New Orleans Collection is a museum, research center and publisher located in the French Quarter and is dedicated to the history and culture of the city, state and Gulf Coast region. An exciting addition to The Collection’s extensive holdings, the Sugar Bowl archives will expand The Collection focuses on the economic, social and cultural developments of the region by documenting the history and development of this nationally significant sporting event.

Visitors will have the opportunity to view the original Sugar Bowl trophy, photographs, programs, scrapbook pages, interviews with coaches and players, and a fi lm prepared specifi cally for the exhibition, along with the chance to vote for the top plays in Sugar Bowl history. Highlights include stunning victories and thrilling moments from some of college football's most prominent teams, including LSU, Florida, Florida State, Alabama, Penn State, Notre Dame, and more past Sugar Bowl participants.
