NEW ORLEANS NIGHTLIFE & MUSIC - New Orleans Casinos

Despite the odds, the casino industry has bounced back to life in New Orleans, on an even grander scale than before. Whether you are itching for the ch-ching of a slot machine or pining for world class dining, the numbers are in your favor that there will be a casino to suit your needs.

New Orleans boasts three area casinos featuring a wide range of slots, table games, poker rooms, entertainment, dining and all that jazz.

Harrah's Casino - Canal Street at the River, 800-HARRAHS
Just steps from the French Quarter, Harrah's Casino features 115,000 square-feet of gaming, more than 2,000 slot machines, more than 90 table games and the largest poker room in the South.
This venue of nonstop gaming and entertainment returned to the scene on Feb. 17, 2006, in an effort to kick the city’s Mardi Gras season into high gear. Appropriately, the renovated slot machine area featuring new five-reel and multi-denomination games has a brand new theme: Party Gras.
One of the must-sees of Harrah’s is the ultra-hip Masquerade area, featuring a bar topped with solid ice and an exclusive lounge with bottle service. Along the lines of musts is a meal at The Besh Steakhouse, led by Chef John Besh, most recently known for being presented with the 2006 James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef: Southeast. Other dining options include Bambu, offering Asian-fusion creations, the 24-hour buffet, Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant, Starbucks and McAlister's.

Boomtown Casino on the Westbank - 4132 Peters Road, Westbank, 800-366-7711.
Across the Mississippi River, Boomtown Casino is the largest riverboat casino in South Louisiana, featuring 45,000 square feet of gaming options spread over three floors. With 1,200 slot machines, casual dining options including the Bayou Market Buffet, Mossy Horn Café and Pier 4, and a kid-friendly arcade, Boomtown is fun for the whole family.

Treasure Chest Casino in Kenner - 5050 Williams Blvd., 504-443-8000, 800-298-0711, www.treasurechestcasino.com
Just west of downtown New Orleans on Lake Pontchartrain, Treasure Chest Casino offers the newest table game to hit the floor: Streak Blackjack. The newly renovated casino featuring more than 950 slots also boasts the Sports Fun Pit, where you can play table games and watch the game on plasma TVs.
