New Year's Eve With Batiste Father & Sons

Posted on: Dec 28 2016

Joining the party for the first time on the Paddlewheeler Creole Queen New Year’s Eve Fireworks Cruise will be the Batiste Father & Sons of the New Millennium. This event, presented by bigeasy.com and New Orleans Paddlewheels, inc. and produced by Damon J. Batiste and Hollywood South, LLC., will incorporate bands from the talented Batiste family on each of the Paddlewheeler’s three levels. The boat sets sail from the Spanish Plaza at 11 pm on December 31st to bring us into 2017.

This annual cruise is New Orleans’ premier New Year’s Eve event providing front row seats to the Mississippi River fireworks show. Guests will enjoy an open bar, a delicious assortment of hors d’ouevres like andouille en croute and crawfish pies, and a lavish reception-style dinner menu.

While the guests enjoy this feast, Louisiana Music Hall of Fame Musician David Batiste & the Youth Rising Stars will be performing a stirring blues and soul review in the Kings Room. Acclaimed pianist and the patriarch of the Batiste clan, David Batiste has performed with many artists and bands throughout his life including a long stint with The Meters.

Following dinner, those looking to dance off the rest of 2016 will head downstairs to the Creole Room where Ryan Batiste & Raw Revolution will be taking over. World Famous Funk Master and local favorite Drummer Russell Batiste has been making folks move for over 30 years. Batiste is a Drum Icon in the City and has also had a long run with both the Meters and the Funky Meters. Meanwhile, Russell Batiste & Friends will be setting the mood upstairs on the open air Promenade Deck. This traditional New Orleans funk band will light up the night as we glide past the beautiful city skyline toasting to 2017. This is one New Year’s Eve party that’s not to be missed!
